Hey! I’m Nyanza, an artist born and raised in London. My series of illustrations and animations were born out of me constantly feeling like an outsider, so I decided to create my own world with my own subjects.
My work captures black women during their most authentic moments alone within intimate spaces. I explore the concept of synergy between space and mental health, and the idea that one becomes their best self when they’re in a space they're most comfortable with - physically and mentally.
Inspired by vintage comics, pop culture and interior design, I make a conscious effort to implement the eclectic influences that I was exposed to in my past and continue to be exposed to as a woman of Nigerian and Tanzanian descent in 21st Century London.
With heavy focus on movement, bold colour palettes and expression in all of my muses, I strive to explore the multifaceted nature of women in a unique and dynamic way.
Aside from my art, I enjoy crocheting cute outfits and randomly reciting Nollywood movies.
